I am not a happy camper! And when Bailey is upset, everyone is gonna join her. Right? Right?? I can't hear you!!!!

Okay, I made the switch from cable to converter this weekend. This involved a long drawn out process of switching the two entertainment units - the bedroom for the living room. Why? Two reasons - 1) For some reason, the DVD player connections are whacky and I am constantly having to mess with them - the entertainment unit that was in the living room is a cabinet, so it was hard to look at/mess with the connections in the back of the tv; 2) the bedroom one was prettier ......

Anyway, I hooked up the converter box/antenna in the bedroom on Friday (for reasons I'm not going into), couldn't get FOX (OH NO!! AMERICAN IDOL!!). As you can understand, this was not acceptable. So I finally got that cleared up today only to find out that I can not use the VCR in the bedroom. What the .....???? I can live with that, but I'm not happy. There are two nights a week that there are two shows on at the same time that I want to watch. The only shows that night (can anyone say American Idol and NCIS???) No, nothing at 8 or 9, but two shows on at 7. What gives?? And of course, you can't watch one channel and record another with a converter box, that would be too easy. That's why I wanted two VCR's! Then I go to hook up the stuff in the living room. Now, since it was getting late, I decided not to worry about the VCR/DVD player (yes, this one does have instructions on how to do that, and the adapters to use), and just hook up the tv so I could watch tonight (this being Sunday night, got it?). Right. Guess what? Nothing. Oh wait, one time I did get one channel - one of the Spanish ones. Now this is supposed to be the best antenna and converter boxes that Best Buy had. Yeah, that's what I said. And before someone says anything, no I can't take it back and buy something different - I used a coupon. The only thing I can think of is to rearrange the room and see where the antenna will pick up the best. I want my cable back .........

Free Books!!!

Okay, Happy Groundhog Day and all of that – got it out of the way. As of this writing, I have no idea what the little bundle of fur saw when climbing out of its burrow, but for me – except for a couple of days here and there, we haven’t had winter. Some of you are probably thinking “I’d love that!!” But there are some problems. You see, not enough freezes to destroy those nasty little summer parasites like fleas; trees and flowers are confused – facing a possible nip in their proverbial buds ‘cuz it’s been known to drop a freeze or two in February; a speaking of the plant life – can we say early pollen? Yeah, think about it – cedar is filling the air and making everyone miserable. And did I mention that I hate heat? Not a good sign for the coming summer months. I’m just saying … you know?

Now down to business. My wonderful sexy friend Amie Stuart is having a contest – it’s called “14 Days of Love” and she’ll be giving away books that entire two week period. You got that right … free books!!! By 14 authors (or a little more – so keep checking in) no less, so get your little behinds over there, leave a comment and win a book. Don’t forget, it’s a 14 day contest, so you need to go every day! Yeah, I’m talking to you – every day!!! You've already missed one day 'cuz it started on Sunday, but there are still 13 more to go!

Um, and did I mention that there is an on-line bookstore gift certificate involved too? Thought that would get your attention.

A little map will do ya

So I did something different on Saturday. I went to a book signing! I’d never been to one. Susie and I went – it was Michelle Miles, and she was at the Barnes & Noble at North East Mall in Hurst. I’d never been to Hurst either, at least not on purpose. LOL I got off of work at 1:00 and met Susie at my apartment and then we were off! I had printed out one of those Google driving directions things to help us, as neither one of us really knew where we were going. Have you ever used one of those? They are useless and awfully vague with their directions. But I guess we did okay since we only got lost 3 times. Hmmmm. Anyway, Michelle’s new book is A Break in Time, the second in the Ransom and Fortune Adventure series. (I have got to find a copy of the first one, oops.) So we saw Michelle, Susie bought a copy of her book and I bought two. Why? ‘Cuz I’m going to give an autographed copy of the book away. Not right now, probably Wednesday when I decide how to do it. But I digress … after getting our books, Susie and I had lunch with Ames and Lynn at someplace called Logan’s Roadhouse. Interesting place and the food was good. So was the company. I had forgotten how great it was to hang out with Ames, and how invigorating talking about writing can be. That’s what I’m hoping for with Yellow Rose – the stimulus that I get from being around other writers. It could be just the thing to kick my writing ass into gear.

So, that was my Saturday. Sunday was spent doing nothing and watching the Cowboys whip some Cleveland Browns butt! Altogether a great weekend.

How was yours?

I'm Baaaaaaack!

I have my laptop again!!!! I am so happy I could sing and dance, if it wouldn’t scare the cats. Bebo’s friend Steve took about an hour before he finally slayed the internet beast. I don’t know what he did, but it sure worked. La da dee da da (I’m singing and dancing – the cats are running for the hills). Don’t you wish every trouble you had could be fixed in under an hour?

Speaking of problems, say a few prayers for Susie on Thursday. She’s going in for day-surgery to remove a polyp in her uterus. Let’s hope it’s benign.

Meanwhile, I want to know what you are reading. I’m reading Lush by Sasha White in ebook and Hands On by Amie Stuart in print. Come on, spill it, whatcha reading?

I Don't Wanna Come Home!!

I had a really great time at National! I shared a room with Amie and Dennie, which was quite interesting. Saw some authors (Nora Roberts was everywhere), ate a lot of food, drank a little, attended some workshops, but most of all, I got to relax for the first time in months. It felt good, so good that I wasn't ready to come home and face reality. But here I am. I have met The Shalvis and she is just as kind and generous in person that she seems to be on-line. Loreth Anne White and I had dinner one night. She's also a lot like her on-line personality - completely charming. And I loved her accent. Had lunch with Melissa McClone and hung around a bit - she's a sweetie. We talked about our cats a lot. I missed my babies.

I have pictures, but I don't want to download them onto this computer. I'm going to try to get the router thing straightened out this week so I can get back on the laptop.

I am awfully tired, but once I rest up, I'm getting back to writing. The conference was invigorating and I feel that itch to write. Hope y'all had a good week. Missed ya!

The Party

I had a party Saturday night. Amie, Dennie, Susie, Bebo and I got together for an evening of girl talk, booze and food. It was a blast. A lot of secrets spilled, gossip exchanged and howling laughter filled the evening. It’s been a long time since I laughed that hard. We’re not talking giggles, but all out guffaws. Let’s just say I’ll never look at a mirror the same way again – and no, I’m not saying any more.

Bubba was a hit, literally. He showed off his love of spankings to the other’s delight. There’s one picture (hey Amie) and a video (yo Susie) floating around somewhere. I don’t know where they’ll show up – but yes, the spanking has been immortalized.

If you were to open my garbage can, you’d think I was an alcoholic – but I was very good because of the meds. I had a great time and look forward to doing it again.
Update: Read Dennie's take on the night.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's Back to Work I Go

I’m feeling much better now, although my voice gives out easily. I’ll be returning to work Thursday, but only for a half day. I don’t think I’m capable of a full 8 hour shift.

Bebo and I will be going to the North Texas Irish Festival on Sunday. Cece and Dennie will be going to. That’ll be a lot of fun. I love this festival – Bebo and I have been attending for the last 5 or 6 years. I’ll be taking it slowly though, lots of stops and rests.

What are your plans for the weekend?
