A Raindance?

That's all I have to say .....

There are wildfires all over N. Texas, another 2 lives were lost over the weekend because of them. A customer's dog ran into her back yard and broke its leg (don't know if male/female) when it fell into a crack that had opened up over night - from the lack of rain. Tropical Storm Lee missed us, bringing us cooler weather (but still dry) but no rain. In fact, according to the weatherornotman, T.S. Lee took the moisture we were going to have. A tropical storm stole our rain? Figures.

But .. it is cooler. For that I'm quite happy, thank you!

(oh, the LOLcat? I made that one.)

It's About Time

Yeah, about time I got back here. I do not in any way wish that virus on anybody, well, maybe one person......

What a lovely couple of days we're having. Yesterday (Sunday) it didn't get out of the 60s, and today it'll be a little bit higher, but still - with a week that's looking at a couple of 90 degree days, I'm loving this. Of course, it did mean terrible storms Saturday, so bad that I'm sure you've heard about the Dallas Cowboys practice dome collapsing. Couple of serious injuries there. There were several members of the media in the dome, so some excellent video exists. This was the rookie camp, and what I liked (for lack of a better word) was the many players in uniform working to free others. The thunder from this storm sent the cats scurrying a bit - and these cats don't really react to thunder. It left a trail of damage in it's path - but so far only one possible tornado, down near where Bebo was for the weekend.

Let's see, what else has been going on? Um, hmmmm, I did miss my on-line workshop - the week I was sick, and then the second week where trying to play catch-up was impossible. I have all of the lesson plans and I will be doing them.

That leads me to another question ... is in on-line or online? No, I'm serious - I've seen it both ways and was just wondering.

There are a lot of words like that, words that confuse me - for instance, effect and affect. Don't try to tell me, many have tried and failed. So, what word/words give you a problem?

Have a happy Monday - and I'll see you Wednesday!

Yada Yada

I think Mother Nature has PMS. Shorts Monday, leggings Tuesday, shorts Wednesday, leggings Thursday - up and down temps all over the place. Sheesh. And the pollen - I generally like the temps in Spring, but I always get hit with the pollen.

Nick? Come on y'all, didn't you recognize the reference? It's Nick from Casablanca. I know Bebo recognized it, 'cuz it's one of her favorite movies.

And as for your weekend, most of you had just about as much fun as I did! What gives? Jeanne is the only one that did something interesting. I've got to get my jollies somewhere.

Not a whole lot going on. I haven't written or read, and I have deadlines looming on both. The book I'm supposed to read is for a contest, and it's due by April 18. And the writing? Well, at the writer's group, we get charms for writing - and I want one!!!! The next meeting is the 11th, so I got to get a move on. I'm also taking an on-line workshop through the group - it's called "Sizzle 101" and is being taught by Blaze author Jennifer LaBrecque, one of my favorite writers.

Here's the description:

The two-week course will cover sensuality vs. sexuality, creating sexual tension, awareness, steps to intimacy, the emotional component, engaging all five senses, and moving beyond tab a into slot b.

I'm really looking forward to it. It's my first on-line workshop, so I'm still not quite sure what is expected of me.

Anyway, that's just about it for now. Hope you are having a great hump day!!

Monday?

Wow, where did the weekend go? Oh wait, I don’t have a weekend! I really miss having two days off in a row – I have Friday, then work Saturday, then off Sunday again. It’s really hard, I tend to laze around both days and never get anything done. When I had two days off in a row – even though it was Sunday/Monday – I would laze one day and then get things done on the other. Now, I’m tired out from the week, so Friday is the pits, and Saturday’s are usually really busy, so once again I’m tired on Sunday.

Anyway, as I said, I didn’t get anything done on my days off – of course, I’ve been dealing with asthma this last week too – the weather has been freaky this week again. Real windy, and then one day really, really cool – not cold really, but the wind was bad which made the wind chill factor colder. But it will be back to shorts tomorrow. Sheesh. I don’t know if I’m safe to take off the flannel sheets yet or not.

So, anyone do anything fun this weekend? Come on, I live vicariously, you know!

So, we're back to Wednesday again ....

We’re on a rollercoaster ride again. Today the temperature didn’t get above 55, and tomorrow it will be around 75, then we’re back down again. Weirdness ….

I really don’t have anything to blog about today. It’s the middle of the week, a rather routine week, and things are going on as usual.

Oh, those of you that asked to read my entry, um, could you maybe give me some feedback? Thanks Jeanne and Dru! And Cheryl, could you email me at baileystewart at baileystewart dot net and I will send it to you.

I don’t know where this story is going, honestly. I am a panster by trade (for those of you who don’t know the technology, it means someone “flies by the seat of their pants” and don’t do outlines or really plot), but I generally do know where the story is going. Just not this time; this scene came out of no where – so I’ve got to get a handle on the characters, what’s going on, what’s going to happen, etc. Especially since this is the opening scene!! And no, it’s not a dream – although I did consider that, but pictures of Bobby Ewing coming out of the shower flashed through my head. If you don’t get the cultural reference, well, you’re just too young. LOL

Lately though, this is how I've been feeling while writing ... I'm so tired. LOL

And I do have the first kissing scene out of the way, so I can breathe easier.

So we'll see what happens next, okay? LOL

It's in his kiss

Get out your ‘kinis and leg wax, it’s gonna be in the 80s this weekend. Yip-freakin’-pee! If you can’t tell, I’m not a happy camper. It gets to the 80s and I start thinking about the air conditioning. I’m not ready to turn it on. I need those temps that are no lower than 50 or higher than 70 in order to keep the unit off and conserve electricity. I’m doing better now that I’ve gotten more hours at work, but things aren’t really great either, so the more I can save the better.

And I need a kiss. Don’t worry, not from you, and not really for me either. It’s for a character – there’s a contest at the Yellow Rose (local chapter of RWA) for Valentine’s Day. It’s a first kiss thingy, and I’ve looked through a couple of things, but they’re not right. I still have two more stories to go through and if I can’t find anything there, then I’ll need to write one. I know … write. But hey, I’ve started reading, so things are progressing.

Not a whole lot going on to blog about. Really.

I hope you all are having a great week!!!

And don’t forget to go over to Amie’s and leave a comment to win a book. The link is below.

Too cold

I know, I wasn't going to do this too much, but it's cold and although I have the furnace on (yes Bebo, it's on) my hands are still cold and so, I'm leaving you with YouTube cuteness.

I want each and every one of these:

Oh, and did I mention that we're getting ice?

Good Grief, it's Wednesday

I have absolutely nothing to say, which can mean problems. LOL We all know what happens when I have nothing to blog about. There simply isn’t anything going on. I’ve picked up 12 more hours at work, which means that all of my weekdays will be spent at work except for Friday, and then half of Monday. So now I have to fit things in – wonderful. I wasn’t getting a lot done before …

Our weather is being really funky right now. Last Friday it was 84. Monday it was in the 30s with ice. Today we got up to the lower 50s, by Friday we’ll be at 80 again. Then Saturday back into the 40s for the weekend. All of this fluctuation is making a lot of people sick, myself included. My sinuses are going whacky, I’ve got this lousy cough and an almost constantly dripping nose, but then so do a lot of other people. This is really highly unusual for Texas – I mean, we do have a generally mild winter (I can remember wearing shorts on Christmas day as a child), but not this bouncing of extremes.

Well, surprise – this is it! I know, really great post Bailey, you shouldn’t try so hard next time. LOL

So I’ll leave you with a couple of my new favorite LOLcats – not any of mine though, darn it.
And this lovely one that is one of my favorite Robert Frost poems

Mother Nature has PMS!!!!!

I’m not kidding. Sunday we were at 80 degrees – well, mostly. Here it is Sunday evening at 11:07 and it’s 45 with a wind chill of 39. Which, by the way, is supposed to be Monday’s high. Yeah, can we say hormonal shift? Back into the 60s by the end of the week, and then we’ll probably start all over again. This, dear readers, is why a lot of people around here are sick – up and down, up and down, winds from this direction and then from the other. It’s a mess. We could actually have sleet Tuesday morning – oh goody, goody.

Anways, as you’ve probably heard, there’s this thing called Christmas that is coming up. I know, I know – where have I been? Last year I did recipes, this year I’m going to treat you with my favorite Christmas songs.

This next one was written by a man named Mark Lowry (along with someone named Buddy Greene). He’s a member of the Gaither gospel group and when I heard the song the first time I couldn’t believe that he wrote it. Why? Think of Goober as writing this song and you’ll get the idea. Mark is the comedian of the group and I would have never thought that he was capable of such beauty. Here is his rendition as I believe that it is the best version of this song. Enjoy.

There's a Method to my Monday

As I’m sitting here another cold front is moving in. Tomorrow should be great temperature wise – 45 in the morning, 65 for the high. These are the temperatures that I enjoy the most. Pants, flannel shirts, flannel sheets, snuggling down into the blankets. Piling the bed with lots of blankets, the room so cold you could see your breath – I sleep better when it’s cold. I’m really not much on turning on the heat – only for a shower, or to protect the pipes – I’d much rather snuggle. I have more energy the colder it gets; you could almost say that I come alive when the temperatures drop. I do have a seasonal disorder, just not the one you hear so much about – the winter blues. Nope, I have the summer time blues (isn’t there a song there somewhere?). If I sweat when I move, I don’t like it. LOL

What about you? What’s your favorite temperature – and why?

Another picture that I made. This is Monster Cat, and this is his Halloween Picture.

Winter Wonderland ... Not!

Cat Marsters/Kate Johnson is doing a really great thing over at her blog. Please go over and check it out.

Seamas is a shithead. (You know Bubba is in trouble when I call him by his proper name.) He keeps going over to the tree and pulling at the lights. While I’m sitting here. Like I don’t exist. I’ve yelled at him three times already. Now he’s coming over to me to try to kiss up. Good luck.

North Texas can’t decide what the temperature ought to be. Monday it didn’t leave the 40s and Tuesday it was almost 70. It’ll be near the 70s most of the week. I wasn’t sure how to dress for work Tuesday morning since we started out in the 30s.

I’ve been on a Christmas movie kick on the weekends. One of the channels is showing back-to-back tacky made for TV movies and I’ve been inhaling them, no matter how stupid they are. I just finished The Shalvis’ “The Trouble With Paradise” (and will be reviewing it soon) and I’m not sure what I’ll start on next. What are you reading?

Baby It's Cold Outside

It’s cold outside. Honest. I know it’s not cold compared to my compadres up North, but highs in the lower 40s are still cold nonetheless. And I’m trying to keep my bills down, so I’m sitting here with an electric blanket over me and my little heater running. If you go stand next to the heater, it’s 50 degrees. But only if you stand next to it. I’ve also become the most popular mom in the world. The cats love the electric blanket, to the point that they often trap me in it. That has an unusual side-effect. They get me tucked in and then I’m like the little kid that you just got the snowsuit on and then they suddenly have to go potty. Yep. You try moving four cats off of you. Without using your hands. Bound in a blanket trying to cajole four contented cats to move off of the warm covering. Not that easy to do.

Christa has gotten me hooked on a new pastime. It’s called Christmas Hangmen. Originally Halloween Hangman, and then Thanksgiving Hangman. It’s like Lays chips, I can’t stop at one. Even when I learn all of the words and can get 1500 and so points, I can’t stop playing. Now they’ve switched to Christmas and I have a whole new set of words to learn. I rarely get up to 500 points now. But I’ll keep at it until I learn those damn words if it kills me. If you want to play, go here.

There’s also a new review at Isn’t it Romantic. Go check it out.
