The Long and the Short of it

What's long? A full novel. What's short? A short story in an anthology. What's Reluctant Reunion? The first book in an anthology called Lone Star Reunion, featuring 4 stories about a group of people who find love at a high school reunion. I'll definitely change the title of Reluctant for this one - but I don't have to do that right now. Anyway, I've always written Romantic Suspense, so trying to write this particular book without a mystery has been hard. This WIP didn't want to be a mystery and, as it turned out, it doesn't want to be a full-length book either. I was having trouble moving it along without action. I felt like I was just putting in "filler" until the end. With a short story, I can move things without having to do all of that fluff stuff. Any, I'm posting this early because I'm going to get to bed before 10:00 (I know, surprise), to see if I can stay up tomorrow. I've been missing music with this too and I can't listen to it at night without disturbing mom, and I can't put on earphones because I have to hear mom - so I can listen to music in the mornings. I won't be blogging until the afternoon. I don't know just how much actual writing I'll get done tomorrow - I think it will be just going over the pages I have, tightening it up - actually plotting now that I know what's going on. And if this doesn't make any sense either - well, I know what I said - so there.

i just realized when I re-read this that I kept saying tomorrow. In case you haven't figured it out, I wrote this Saturday night and tomorrow refers to Sunday. See y'all Sunday afternoon.

LOL!
As long as YOU know what you meant, then all is OK!
And if you get stumped with early AM challenges, take a blog break. It's fun!
A little blog'll do ya!
Happy writing, Eve!

Sounds like a plan to me :)

Yay! Glad to hear that you may have finally cracked your hesitation. As for posting, we're always here, so when you do it isn't as important as long as you let us know what's going on! Good idea with the music thing, too.

Good luck!

Sounds like an ambitious endeavor, and well worth the effort. I can't wait to read some of your stuff.

Sounds like you’ve made a breakthrough with this manuscript, Eve. That’s terrific! And I like the story’s premise. Maybe just talking about it and brainstorming here on your blog yesterday helped clear your thoughts enough for you to sort things out. I love the instant feedback we get from blogging. :-)

You know how inept I am when it comes to writing more than a couple of sentences, which is why I didn’t post yesterday. It sounds like you have come up with a fantastic and ambitious solution to your problem. Sending lots of luck and good wishes your way!

Bailey is a real cutie!

I want to write - I want to write - I have to tell myself that 'cause I am exhausted and could just curl up on the sofa and stare off into space - but I always get mentally energized after we have good speakers at our RWA chapter events - but I am exhausted! but I will write!

Happy Sunday!
I LOVE Firefly, lol.
Hmmmm. Maybe I'll put on the DVD and watch it (again, for the 20th time, lol)

City Chickie - my knowing what I mean isn't always a sure thing.

Jeanne - that's what I thought too - hasn't happened exactly the way I planned it though. More tomorrow.

Brandy - I always had music going before, so I spent part of the morning putting together a play list. I'm missing a song I'd like to have though.

Thanks Danica!

Scott - not too sure about that, I'll think about excerpts later. This is soooooo raw.

Joely - I'm having a morning, can't say its too productive.

Duchess - I think I have found the way. I have an enthusiasm for this that I haven't had in a long time. Not that it's quit giving me fits though - but that's normal. And yes, I love "talking" it over with everyone. Helps clear the mind.

Susan - Thanks! And Bailey's on my list right now. More on that tomorrow.

Dennie - can you rest a little and then start the writing? Good luck sweetie.

Okay - this was just a little break - I'm going back at it. Company coming over this afternoon, so I don't know just how much more writing I can get done. Will probably blog then. (It's an elderly aunt, so I don't have to be out there, but they always find a way to interrupt the "zone".)

Sam - Thanks for dropping by. Only 20? *gg*

So, is this the WIP you've gone back to while the other one "festers"? Or is this the one you were struggling with? Sounds like it's communcating with you either way.

Hope the writing goes well :o) And you have a peaceful, productive afternoon!

Coming up for air - lawdy, my neck hurts.

Diane - this is Reluctant Reunion, now tentatively titled Reluctant Seduction the first book in The Lonestar Reunion anthology. It just didn't want to be a full-length novel. And yes, it's talking.

Peggy - yup, same one, only not such a struggle now. And I never thought I could write a short story either, but we'll see if this works.

Lis - the aunt decided not to come over, so it's been good. I don't know, would you call 1,078 words today productive? *gg*

Get ear buds! You can wear one in one ear nad leave the other ear free to hear your mom!

Bailey Stewart said...

I hadn't thought about that. Hmmmm, will have to look into it.

Seductive reluction. A quickie :)

Sorry.

Sounds good. Have fun with it. Got to turn off computer again as it is thundering.

Well, I guess sometimes there isn't enough available to make a whole meal so you just make soup or an hors d'oeuvre, in this case, out of it.

I've done a lot of writing for that course I wrote you about, (I think anyway). It's embarrassing if you can't remember details like that. Definitely have to be careful not to sleep on my left side. Might end up with radial nerve palsy again. It's giving me fits, that's for sure. Also lots of back spasms. Ugh. Hope you're doing okay.

Bailey Stewart said...

Toni - Ooooh, thunder. I love thunder.

Ruby - doing okay - just busy writing. Hope the course is going okay.

Sounds like a very productive day to me :o)

I thought so too. Goodnight everyone - yes, I'm going to bed before 11:00. Long day, no nap.
