Neely Shae

Saturday Susie and I took Neely Shae to her new home - well, for a two-week trial period at her new home. Neely wasn't thrilled, in fact the poor baby peed in the carrier. That was a great introduction to Libby and her new home - a long trip and then immediately to a sink. Libby is going to re-name her Nelly. Nelly?! Neely Shae means princess of the fairy castle, or something like that, in gaelic. I chose it for its beauty in both sound and meaning. Nelly? That's what you call an old nag. Oh well, she's not mine anymore so I guess it won't matter. I do hope this works because I'm running out of options for her. The apartment will only allow 2 animals (the girls in the office are letting me sneak in a third), but a fourth - no way. I also don't want to cram 4 cats in a one bedroom apartment; 4 cats are getting too expensive in shots, food, litter. I've tried the rescue groups, but they declined because they consider 10 too old for adoption. If this doesn't work with Libby, there's a slight chance I could talk my vet into taking her and finding a home; if not, then its the needle for her - and that would tear me up. Leaving her there effected me more than I thought it would. I spent a good deal of Saturday night crying. But I'm better now.

We all know I write this stuff the night before, so I'm getting ready to watch the Superbowl. I'm touched by the reading of the Declaration of Independence by former and present football players/officials/coaches. Kinda brought a tear to my eyes. Who am I rooting for? As much as I hate to say it, I'm rooting for the Giants. I have my reasons:

1. I'd hate for anybody other than the Cowboys to have a perfect year.

2. I'm tired of hearing about how great the Patriots are, and how they're undefeatable.

3. The Giants represent the NFC and that's the division the Cowboys are in.

4. Tom Brady is too cute to be a quarterback.

5. I don't want the Patriots to win more Superbowls than the Cowboys.

6. I don't like Bill Bellichek (sp?)

Bebo and I spent most of the day (okay, not most but quite a bit) working on the study. And we're still not done. We both ended up beat. A lot of mother's stuff was there, a lot of stuff to shred.

That's it for now, see ya on Wednesday.

We were for the Giants too - Patriots cheated and don't deserve to be in the record books. My husband is in this big superbowl pool - had the numbers that were the same in the second and third quarters stayed for the fourth we could have won $5,500 - OMG - unfortunately it didn't -- at least it meant the Giants won -- but still...

I'm really really hoping the adoption works for Neely Shae, if not, surely someone could foster her for a while...I truly believe there is a home for her and I'm so sorry you have to give her up {{hugs}}

Thanks Jeanne, I appreciate the thoughts. I'm hoping so too.

Bailey, stop by and read my thoughts on the Superbowl. It was magical, no?

Bailey Stewart said...

Scott - yes it was! I'll be by in a little bit.

We were rooting for the Giants, too! Very loudly in fact.

As I commented on another blog and it goes along with catslady comment, the Patriots got exactly what they deserved for what they did earlier in the season. They did not deserve a perfect season.

Hope things work out for Neely Shae. I'll say a prayer for all those involved in the transition.

Bailey Stewart said...

Yes they did Melissa. Smugness always creates disdain. And Karma will get you in the end.

Thanks for the prayers.

I hope this adoption works for Neely Shae. She's such a beautiful girl. I'll be saying a prayer for her (and you). Please let us know how things work out.
I didn't watch the Superbowl. *shrugs* Not my thing. But, I am glad that you're satisfied with the winner.
Have an enjoyable MOnday!

Thanks Tori.

Brandy - I wondered where you were. I have to admit that I wasn't that interested in the game at first since I thought it would be a Patriots blowout, but then I got caught up in it. I always watch the Superbowl no matter who's playing - I love the commercials. Tune in Wednesday for my pick of the best.

And thank you for the prayers about Neely. I so hope it works out.

Hopefully everything will work out with the adoption Neely Shae. She is such a cutie! I so sorry for you have to give her up. I do know what you mean about the expenses of taking care of them. Big hugs sweetie.

WhooHoo for the Giants big win!!

I hope she's okay in her new home. I'm sure she will be. Glad you enjoyed the Superbowl :)

Thanks Susan. But you know, it's also kinda nice to sit here and not have a cat insisting on being loved on, like Neely Shae did. I mean, the others do that, but not as much as she did. She needed more attention and affection than I could give her. In her new home, she's the only animal, her new owner is elderly and hasn't much to do except love on her. I think she'll be happy once she adjusts.

Bailey Stewart said...

Thanks FBA! I didn't see you there (You must have chimed in while I was answering Susan) anyway, yeah, like I said in Susan's answer - I think she'll be happier there in the long run.

Congrats to the Giants. The Patriots looked like they never left Massachusetts!

Bailey Stewart said...

Actually Lexi, both defenses played really well - they kept the score close. And the Giants defense caught on to Brady quickly.

I hope Neely Shae bonds with her new family.

Yeah, what a great fourth quarter. My co-workers are going to attend the parade tomorrow.

Bailey Stewart said...

Me too Dru, I hope Libby loves her.

Watch those victory parades. I attended one after the Cowboys Superbowl win and near riots broke out.

I emailed a friend of mine before the game started (he was cheering the Patriots) and told him to brace himself because the Giants were going to win. It was fun emailing back and forth thru the game as it went one way, then the other. I tried not to gloat too much at the end. Long live the underdog. :)

Good luck with Neely Shae. I hope everything works out well.

Bailey Stewart said...

So, you didn't gloat too much, huh? You're a bigger man than I Ghunga Din.

Hope everything work out with Neely Shae and her new home. Jeez how can they think of changing her name after all this time, the poor cat will have an identity crisis.
I didn't really watch the Superbowl but had it on in the background noise. I like the musical numbers and the halftime show.
Hopefully now I can stop by more often because I just got a new computer. not just tower but also monitor, mouse, keyboard. My large monitor was fading and just not bright enough so I had to go back to the small 11" and it was giving me a headache if I spent to much time on it.

Congrats to the Giants. I'm not a football fan, but I love an underdog!

I despise the Patriots and I think Tom Brady is a jerk. Well, jerk isn't the word I was going for but I don't ordinarily swear...online.

Hope the adoption works. BTW, my heroine in one of my WIPs is named Nealie (same name, different spelling). Yes, she is a fairy princess.

Bailey Stewart said...

Christa, Neely has only had her name for about 5 years, she survived that switch, she'll survive another. And I think it'll work out.

Glad to hear you'll be around more - missed you.

Bailey Stewart said...

Tanya -yeah, except when they're playing my team, I tend to root for the underdog too.

Bailey Stewart said...

Rene! Hey girl, how's it going?

Now, tell us how you really feel ... LOL

How cool about the name - it's a pretty one, isn't it? A lot prettier than Nelly ...

Melissa Amateis said...

She is such a beautiful cat - I love her markings. I hope the new home works out for her. :-)

Bailey Stewart said...

Thanks Melissa - yeah, she is beautiful - I wish I could have gotten a really good picture of her face, she has the prettiest face and eyes.

Well, It's been three and a half days and I haven't received any call from Susie saying Libby is screaming "Uncle"
