Love Story

I love the exhilaration when a story is flowing, and that’s what happened to me Sunday. I’d been having trouble with the character of Maddie, my heroine. I couldn’t get inside her head. After spending that afternoon with Bebo, bouncing around ideas, I finally put together a “10 things about Maddie” page, and that really helped. I came back home and wrote 708 words. Not a lot, but more than I’ve done in a week. And it felt good. So good that I put together similar pages for Nathan, Travis and Clare. I’m in love with this book again.

So, my fellow writers, are you in love with your current project?

I never feel in love so much as possessed by my project. It's there in my mind every moment of the day when things are going well. When things stall, it's like opening the door to a room and finding it devoid of any previous occupant. Luckily, I'm in the possession stage at the moment.

Hi Julia, thanks for dropping by. Yes, an empty room is a perfect analogy.

Love?
Nooo.
But I'm having a lot of fun with it.

I think with every project there are times I love it and think it's brilliant; then others, especially in the "dark moment" of the story, where I think the whole thing is garbage. Great work!!

Great advice, Bailey. That's the answer, finding tricks and exercises to overcome the hurdles.
And, yes, I'm in LOVE... but that's because I've been writing more regularly this past month.
THx for sharing!

I can't honestly say I'm in love with what I'm working on right now. It's just not doing it for me.

I'm so in love with my current series that it is actually a joy to jump out of bed at 5:30 every morning. As soon as my alarm goes off the first thought out of my head (after, what day is it?) is - where did I leave off? Ooohh goody, that's a good spot!

Congrats on feeling the love? I was there, then lost it, but I'm finally getting it back. I am however in love with my hero which really helps!

I don't know that I love it. Love is an emotion I reserve for pumpkin pie and tiramisu. But I'm in heavy like with my current project.

BTW, the MyspaceIM won't work on my machine suddenly, hence, I haven't been online. I tried uninstalling then reinstalling but it didn't work.

Good for you! :) That's a good idea, may have to try that sometime.
For me, depends which project your talking about. The neverending requested one, I hate it and would LOVE to hit the delete button and send it all away. My new nice and shiny idea that's whispering all sorts of interesting things my way, really liking that one.

Julia, I like that "possessed" term. It does seem to fit. Although, right now I'm in the absolute LOVE stage of the writing. Yay, Bailey! Anything that gets you motivated to write is a good thing in my mind. Keep it up!

I'm getting there. Your 10 Things exercise might be something I'll try.

I am in love with it, now it's rolling :) Had a slow start (real life interruptions) but it keeps dragging me back to it after I've stopped for the day, always a good sign.
