Book Addict

My name is Bailey Stewart and I’m a book addict. For about 2 years I have been on the straight and narrow, like a good book addict should. But on Saturday, April 12, I fell off the book mobile. I went to Borders. I had a gift certificate from Christmas that I had saved to buy the new Jim Butcher book.

I was only going to buy it and a non-fiction book or two. Yeah, and an alcoholic is only going to have one drink. I ended up spending about $175. Yes you read that right. Of course, a few were hardcovers which do cost more, but still … It really all started a couple of days ago when I was having a conversation with a customer. Somehow the subject of my history degree came up and she asked if I’d read any good history books lately. Ummm, no? I haven’t touched non-fiction for a couple of years. So I decided to correct this and pick up a couple of non-fiction tomes. Yeah, and there’s nothing mentally wrong with Brittany Spears. I did buy some fiction other than the Dresden book: Annette Blair’s My Favorite Witch and The Scot, the Witch and the Wardrobe; Lucy Monroe’s Three Brides for Three Bad Boys; Barbara Pierce’s Naughty by Nature. Also, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: In Extremis by Ken Goddard, and a novel about Robert Frost, who is my favorite poet.

But it’s the non-fiction that I’m looking forward to reading.

So, how about you? What book did you buy last? What are you reading now? What book are you most looking forward to reading? Fiction vs. Non-fiction?

Wow! Lots O books, Bailey!

I have been buying books like crazy, but that's because I'll be homeschooling next year. A combo of non-fiction and fiction. Lots of children's classic as well as ancient history fiction like The Bronze Bow and Mara, daughter of the Nile.

Lately I've been getting into ebooks too. So I can sit at home and browse throught the ebook store and Elloras Cave :-). My last book purchased were ebook. America Beauty by Ashley Ladd, Fit to be Tied by Jaid Black and Lassoed by Ann Jacobs from Elloras Cave and The Cowboy from fictionwise(both accept Paypal groan). So right now I'm reading two books. In ebook I am reading Montana Bride by Barbara Clark and in Print I am reading The Soldier and the Rose by Lynette Kent. I like to have print going because I like to take a book to bed and I can't do that with an ebook.
Sounds as though you got some great books.

I'm with Tori, I have never spent that much at one time on books. It must have felt scary and wonderful at the same time. *g*
I am looking forward to next month. May has several books being released that I am looking forward to: Warrior Rising by P.C. Cast, Blind Rage by Terri Persons, Weddings Can be Murder by Christie Craig, From Dead to Worse by Charlaine Harris, Gone with the Witch by Annette Blair, Scream For Me by Karen Rose and Because Your Vampire Said So by Michele Bardsley. (Although later this month The Angel by Carla Neggers and The Third Circle by Amanda Quick are due to be released.)
I like some non-fiction, bigraphies are good. Katherine Hepburns biography was very interesiting. The Robert Frost book sounds intriguing. Hmmmm, off to see if the library......

Have a great day and enjoy all those lovely books!

I love buying books. The most I've ever bought at one time was six. I have a couple of books that I'm waiting for, but can't recall because they are all written down at home.

I'm reading Nightshades by Susan Wittig Albert.

Enjoy your book reading.

The only time I've spent this much on books was in college, and that doesn't count.

I'm reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kinsolver, French Pressed by Cleo Coyle, and have a basket full of stuff on the TBR pile right now.

Yikes! I've never come close to spending that much at one time for books. It sure sounds like it was well worth it!

Looking for Peyton Place by Barbara Delinsky, Where Have All the Cowboys Gone? by Kate Pearce, Good With His Hands by Alexa Darin, The Deadliest Denial by Colleen Thompson are just a few in my TBR pile.

Merry Christmas lol. Books are about the only thing I indulge myself with and I've been working at winning them lately lol. The only time I spent that much at once was when I went shopping with my oldest daughter who loves to read like me. I usually deny myself but she talked me into buying and of course both her and her sister benefited too lol.

I just finished The New Earth by Eckhart Tolle and I highly recommend it for everyone.

That looks fantastic, Bails. lots of good reading. I bought Dagger Star by Elizabeth Vaughan last. I liked it but not as much as Warprize. Then I had a bunch of books to judge come through and I'm having to read those (ha ha, poor me :)

And the bookclub begged me to rejoin and sent me 5 free books so...I have a whole bunch to get through :)
