Happy Halloween

So, how are you going to spend Halloween? Me? I'm going to hide in the back of the house and watch movies - I think. Bebo is coming over and we might watch Dancing With the Stars (I usually tape it and watch it later). I have an entire stack of movies lined up for tonight and tomorrow night - I can't handle the trick-or-treaters this year. Handing out the candy was always mom's joy and I'm just not up to it this year.

What's on the list?

House on Haunted Hill (what's Halloween without Vincent Price?)
The Uninvited (if you've never seen this movie with Ray Milland, you should. It's on most lists of great ghost movies. The Uninvited was the first Hollywood film to take the subject of ghosts seriously)
An episode of Sightings that always gives me goosebumps. It's about recorded voices from beyond and those voices are very eerie.
Van Helsing (Halloween without Dracula?)
13 Ghosts (the original - wish I had the 3-D glasses)
The Mummy and The Mummy Returns (What's Halloween without ... you get the idea)
The Legend of Hell House (Roddy McDowell - another great movie)
The Haunting (the original with Julie Harris and Claire Bloom. The use of black and white imagery is far superior to any blood and guts remake)

We've carved our pumpkins, I've helped out at the American Legion for a children's party and then last night we had the adult party. Tomorrow I'll put my witch outfit on and hand out candy. I hope we don't get the rain they are calling for. I've been watching the scifi channel since the beginning of the month :)

Since I live in an apartment, so we don't get trick or treaters. I don't know what I'll be doing.
I watched Van Heilsing last night. It was on tv.

I'm taking the rugrats trick or treating them I'm going to "inspect" their candy and take all the good pieces for myself.

LOL--I can't watch scary movies, especially not on my own :( Chicken.

And I have to go out into the cold and snow and beg for chocolate. OK, that doesn't seem so bad now ;)

I'll be out pounding the pavement with the DDs. In my turtle costume WHICH may need some tweaking as some of my Girl Guides this evening at our Halloween party thought I was a rock!

Now come on! I might be slow, but I'm not *that* slow! ;)

I think I'm going to end up freezing on door duty tomorrow, just hoping I get pizza to make up for the cold.
Other than that, plan on watching the last bit of Most Haunted Live then see what's on tv. If nothing good's on, probably put on some of eps of MH I've taped the last few months

My kids are going around the neighborhood with Dh, actually the neighbors kids are going with them too. I get to stay home and hand out candy. When Daughter was too young to know better we'd pop in our DVD of THe Rocky Horror Picture Show, but she's old enough(sorta) now, but we don't want to confuse Son with guys running around in womens undies. (although even the family parades for Mardis Gras in MS......) *g*
Enjoy your movies and just because you're not giving out candy doesn't mean that you can't eat any!!

I'm full of lurgy so DH is taking the kids trick-or-treating. He has yet to carve the pumpkin, and I'm very tempted to buy a black pointy hat this morning just for me. And facepaints so I can do the kids.

Rene - inspect the candy, indeed. *g* (What a good idea...)

What will I be doing?
Spending the night with REAL zombies--the evening shift at the sucky day job. :-(

Btw, I applaud your list. And may I add my vote for THE HAUNTING, THE HAUNTING, THE HAUNTING!!!
A SUPERB movie, one of the best ever made. No blood, no guts, no chainsaws...it just totally messes with your mind.
Check it out!

I'll be at the day job during the day, at keep fit at tea time, and handing out treats to children if they come to the door. Of course, I really hope they don't come to the door ... more sweeties for me then ... [evil cackle]

I am going to hand out candy which is so much fun to me!

Do you remember the first scary movie you ever watched? I can't remember the name, but it was about a ghost. I was terrified that there was something that could not be explained and that there just MIGHT be the possiblity of other forces out there.

Sandy - I think it was The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, which to this day still has a couple of places in it that can make me jump. Not the scary kind, but the startling ones - even though I know they're coming. For instance, the scene in the basement when all is quiet and suddenly the victrola (I think that's how it's spelled) starts playing - loudness out of silence. The first real horror movie? Hmmmm, probably a Dracula one.

That's a great question. Anyone else?

I'm not doing anything special. Not even the movie thing. For the most part, I don't like scary movies. :)

There are only four other houses where we live in the country so we pop over to them and to grandma's...nothing too major

I was left alone far too much as a child - I saw MANY scary movies...

I LOVE the Mummy movies - great stuff. I'll be cleaning tonight - hopefully it won't take me long, but you never know. Apartment complexes are so picky about everything that needs to be cleaned.

I carved pumpkins at my son's house and that's about it. No parties, no trick or treaters. We are off the main path and it's not worth their time to come here. I'll just be reading.

I'm handing out chocs and Cadbury's Mini Rolls (trying to keep my hands off them) and watching TV. The Haunted Airman is on later and looks quite interesting. Your Dancing With the Stars is just like our Strictly Come Dancing. It's on Saturdays here and I really enjoy it too. I hope you have as happy a Holloween as possible, Bailey!

Those sound great---and far better way to spend Halloween than handing out treats. Have a great night.

I'm not looking forward to Halloween. I'm tired and I just want to go home and decompress, not run to the door every 5 seconds with the dog barking her head off.

The first scarey movie I ever watched was about a mummy who was searching for a ruby necklace that was stolen from his tomb, the Profeesor who discovered his tomb had given it to his Daughter. I can't remember the title.

Sounds like quite a haunting program. Have lots of fun watching. It wouldn't really be for me.

I hope I don't get anyone because the light from any of the rooms can be seen. If the little boy from upstairs comes, that's okay, but I just don't even have the money to buy treats. I'll see if the closest store has reduced their stuff.

And I'm packing.

I'll be gone from sometime tomorrow until Nov. 10 since I should get back late on the 9th. I sure hope my headache goes away. I'll be coming back with two computers that have to be put together to make a usable whole one thanks to my older brother. I'm not sure who'll help me. There's a techie around here who I'm sure will help though I don't know what he charges. My younger brother will *not* be asked to help--at least not by me.

Have fun tonight, everybody.

And you and Bebo, have fun, relax and heal. God bless you.

Sounds like a great night in. I'm a big chicken, so I'll skip the scary movies...but you can have some of my candy :)

Happy Halloween everyone. Try not to eat too many goodies and get tummy aches. No trick or treaters, no scary movies, just kicked back chillin here. My kids are both grown and my daughter lives 8 hrs away so my grandsons can't come. My grand daughter is 3 months old, a little young to trick or treat this year. A spooky hug to all.

What a great selection!!! I love old movies, monster movies, etc. I hope when the girls grow up a little that one of them will like watching them with me. Happy belated Halloween!
