It's All Weirdness

Rene tagged me, so here goes. Although it was pretty hard to narrow down my weirdness to only 6 things.

Six Weird Things About Me

1. I avoid highways at all cost. I know the backroads to almost anywhere and if I can't get there without going on a highway I pretty much avoid going. I also don't like to make a left turn across four lanes of traffic - will even go a block or so out of the way to find a light to turn at.

2. According to Rene's bloggers, this isn't that strange, but there are some who might find it weird anyway. I like the dishwasher arranged in a certain way. My way.

3. I like spaghetti, will eat hamburger pizza but hate hamburger in my lasagna.

4. I eat cottage cheese in my pot pies. Yes, stirred in like mush.

5. I can read a paragraph about a TV show or movie and remember it just about forever. And if I can't, I will not rest until I find the answer. And often, when an actor/actress comes on the screen I will give you their entire resume.

6. When I open a bag of chips, I will only eat the whole chips and ignore the pieces - but that's mostly because I only eat them with Borden Onion dip and it's hard to dip pieces.

I'm tagging:

1. Jo Leigh (because she whined)
2. Kate Hardy (because she's not focused enough yet)
and the last two because I would just love to see these answers:

Raine Weaver and Cece Stuart

Reluctant Reunion word count: 7,563
Last night's word count: 1,386
Two broken nails: priceless

UPDATE: Sandy already tagged Cece, so I'm adding Lis in her place.

I'm like that about chips too. I don't have the excuse for dip, just a quirk.

What is "hamburger pizza?"

Brandy said...

I've seen the traffic in some places in Texas, I don't blame you!!! As for the chips, that's not weird it makes sense to me. And sausage should be in lasagna, not hamburger. I can see everything BUT the cottage cheese thing. Eeeeeewwww, I HATE cottage cheese.
Great going on getting back to the writing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Rene - pizza with hamburger topping.

Brandy - thanks. It felt good, except for the 2:00 in the morning thing.

*wild cheering* Way to go on the word count! Those broken fingernails ARE priceless. I haven't read all week either. :-)

Hmm. I love cottage cheese, adore it actually, so I'll have to give your method a try.

I attempted a second entry into the contest by the way. No word yet if I will be allowed, but it was fun to try again. I told you, I need an outlet!

Bailey Stewart said...

Joely - thanks. But as I said to Brandy I could really do without the 2:00 in the morning thing.

Scott - the cottage cheese began as a way to "beef" up the pot pie. They don't put a lot in them now-a-days and cottage cheese doesn't have a strong flavor, so it kind of absorbs the taste of the broth. The only other way I'll eat cottage cheese is with Ruffles potato chips. We'll have to find you some more outlets. :)

Oh, did anyone notice that the avatar is wearing the ol' blanket and bunny slippers? Its because its 51 degrees out there with a wind chill of 47 - yippee, my kind of weather, although I could do without the wind which is playing havoc with my sinuses.

*Clapping* I'm so glad you're writing again even if it is at the cost of your nails! :)

I hate tomatoes but love tomatoe soup. Go figure.

Denise McDonald said...

Oh hello - I am right there w/ you on the acter/actress drives the dh nutso! (and the dishwasher - I can get two sinks fulls in my way where as the dh can only get one - sheesh - won't they ever listen!)

Bailey Stewart said...

Susan - I'm pleased and to hell with the nails. My mom likes corn bread but hates corn - that's another go figure. I will eat tomato soup, but will only eat tomatoes in salad.

Dennie - we have got to watch a movie together. We'd bug everyone.

Meretta said...

I like my dishwasher arranged just the right way, too. So much so that DH doesn't bother to load it anymore because I come along behind him and rearrange it anyway.

Just leave the dishes on the counter and back away from the dishwaher! Nice and slow, see? That's the way to do it.

Cottage cheese in Pot Pie??? That is discusting girl!!! I am glad you don't do that when I am around! :)

Although I like Cottage cheese and yorgurt mixed together...

That is a GREAT word count!!! Good job! Oh if you would quit biting your nails they would not break off :) :) :) just kidding :)

my son loves tomato soup, love ketchup, but HATES spaghetti sauce...he is like you mom too...loves cornbread, not such a fan of corn...

It is supposed to be 75 here today and in the 80's by the weekend!!! YAHOO!!!!! At last heat :)

Bailey Stewart said...

Meretta - that's it exactly! Bebo says that she has even been known to unload the dishwasher entirely and then reload whenever Howard would do the dishes. That's also why she won't load my dishwasher.

Bailey Stewart said...

Hey you - you posted when I did.

Glenice - the nails, read yesterday's blog. Sheesh woman. We want the nails to break. Cottage cheese and yogurt - and you scoff at me?

Anonymous said...

Glenice: I thought Eve's thing w/ cottage cheese in the pot pie was disgusting (and trust me it looks like - ugh!) but YOGURT & COTTAGE CHEESE????!!!!! Blecchhhkkkk.

Although I like to mix up scrambled eggs, fried potatoes & cream gravy, then smother it with ketchup. So... I guess I'll cut y'all a break this time.

Bailey Stewart said...

And let me tell you Bebo - that looks more disgusting than the cottage cheese/pot pie thing.

Toni Anderson said...

LOL--OK I am deciphering. So hamburger is ground beef is mince? You don't like it in lasagne? Are you nuts? Rhetorical question. And not eating broken crisps? Are you mad? Again, don't answer :D

I agree on the dishwasher, hate cottage cheese.

Like Susan I hate tomatoes and love tomato soup and ketchup.

Wooohoooo on the writing! Good job hon!

I think the cottage cheese w/pot pies is the least disgusting of all the combos you guys have posted. *g*

Anonymous said...

Congratulations on the broken nails! YAAAYYYYYY!!!! *ggg*

You TAGGED me?!
Oh, gawd...that means I have to narrow the weirdness down to SIX things??! :-O

Bailey Stewart said...

Toni - yes, hamburger is ground beef - like in spaghetti or on pizza. I'm looking forward to breaking a couple more nails - and then keeping them that way.

Tori - I agree! Thanks for sorta taking my side.

Bailey Stewart said...

Raine - I know, I had the same problem with my list. *gg* It felt really satisfying to look at the word count.

Sandy J said...

My husband is the same way about going on the back roads. And you can't talk him out of it!

Pot pie and cottage cheese???? Don't knock it until you try it, huh?

I only get the pieces of chips. I have three men living in this household.

Bailey Stewart said...

Sandy - right, when you're a poor college student you try a lot of things to make food stretch. Ketchup spaghetti sauce was always a good one (not). Poor thing - in our house when my brothers lived here there was no such thing as left-overs either.

Anonymous said...

Okay, I'm in. And for the record, I like the cottage cheese and yogurt, too.

Yay on the writing!

Meretta said...

Dry cottage cheese in yogurt is an awesome treat. My kids love it and so do I. And it's good for us, too. Mix in some fresh fruit and even better!

Anonymous said...

Eve, this is a 'stupid Brit' question - what are pot pies?

Yay on the writing.

And thanks for the distraction ;o)

Melissa Amateis said...

Whole chips are the only good chips for dipping. Broken ones just don't work as well. :-)

Kate:
Oooh, I can answer this one!
Pot pies: pastry crust on bottom & top, filled w/ a creamy sauce & meat & veg, usually something cheap & filling like potatoes & carrots or green "english" peas. Very yummy when made from scratch, but we buy the cheap frozen ones & they are... hmmm... filling at best.
(Sorry Eve, I knew you were sleeping so answered in your stead)

Bailey Stewart said...

I don't care that much for yogurt, so y'all eat in it what you want. Mom used to crumble ruffle potato chips in it.

Okay - maybe there are more dishwasher fanatics than previously thought.

Broken chips are fine for anything but dipping - but I rarely eat anything without the dip. Although I love Cheetos and Lays - Lays aren't good for dipping either, they break too easily.

Bebo - showoff.

Calliope said...

hey just found your blog & wanted to say hello. I am a stay at home caregiver to my grandmother who suffers from the A word. Just had a little rush when I found your site. Looking forward to more reading.

oh, & I am insane about how I like my dishwasher arranged.

Bailey Stewart said...

Calliope - welcome. I keep forgetting that this blog is supposed to be about Alzheimer's too. Thanks for reminding me. I'll have to do a post about it soon.

Anonymous said...

hey! my cottage cheese and yogurt thing is a great dessert...and it is low calorie, especially if we use low/nonfat yogurt and lowfat cottage cheese!

I love homemade pot pie, just not with cottage cheese! Oh and I really don't like baked potatoes with Cottage Cheese on them...ew!

Bailey Stewart said...

Who puts cottage cheese on baked potatoes? Yuck!

Kelly (Lynn) Parra said...

Eve, I have a fear of highways and freeways and airplanes. lol!!

Great going in the writing. Yep, it's worth breaking some nails for. Keep it up--no, not the nail-breaking.

I love cottage cheese and I'm sure I've had it in lasagna. Maybe that's one of the few recipes I might manage to do. I used to eat a lot of the German-type cottage cheese called "Quark" when I lived there (and No, I don't know who decided to call something cosmic after cottage cheese). That was one of my staple foods but it's almost impossible to get here and very expensive.

Had the police here last night. My upstairs neighbor called me at 2335h and said he had heard a noise and asked if I'd heard one. I'd heard a little bit of a scratching. He continued, saying there was light on in the basement when there definitely should not have been any. Fred saw that when he went out to walk the dog. So we wondered what to do and he decided to call the police. Since the door was locked downstairs, I really wasn't too worried and the police took their time. We waited almost half an hour out in the cold (not much above freezing), and then one, two and then a third squad car finally arrived. One guy examined the outside with me and then all three or four went down to check if anyone had somehow managed to get in. The coast was clear. We figured out it must have been the realtor showing the place on Mon. who forgot to turn off the lights as well as to lock one of the doors. I think she'll get an earful from the owner.

Many comments to what others wrote, e.g., loading dishwasher. I finally gave up on trying to load it after my mother either scolded me or redid everything I had put in.

Anonymous said...

Oops. How did I get to be "anonymous"? I know the page didn't download properly, but still...

Christa said...

See I don't think that highway thing is weird, same with that left turn across 4 lanes. I feel like telling my sister to go block, especially with the traffic in Toronto(scary). I don't have a dishwasher so obviously I can't do it right that's why my sister always fixes it at her place. I gotta try that yogurt and cottage cheese thing. When I was much, much younger one of my favorite sandwhiches was a pickle, cheez whiz, tuna and toasted sandwhich.

Bailey Stewart said...

Kelly - lions and tigers and bears, oh my. *gg*

Ruby - I knew anonymous was you. I'm glad things went okay with the police.

Christa - hmmm, first blog you go to, huh? LOL And yuck on the sandwich.

Siobhan said...

Hi guys! I'm up early with jet lag. Great reading all your comments. I like cottage cheese too! I'm about to have a "not very nice day". Hospital appointment for investigations of abnormal cells. A bit scary. Please think of me!

Eve
I said it was the first blog I go to, I didn't say it was the first I commented on.LOL. I gotta think about these things.

Just giving you a hard time Christa - I think its funny. :)
