Revenge of the Jedi Kids

Did you know I have Darth Vader living next door? Really. I was laying down (lying down?) trying to take another futile nap when suddenly a voice booms out from just below my side window. Darth Vader! I sprang to the window (and that hurt) and saw a 15ish year old kid out with the youngsters. He was standing there yelling in a James Earl Jones deep voice. James Earl Jones doesn't need to yell and neither did doo-rag wearing kid. They hadn't been out there earlier - nobody was. I thought maybe the kid-snatching aliens from the planet Uranus (because that's where they're bothering me) had come down and scooped them up. Nope, no such luck. They were waiting for me to lay down for a nap, the little creeps. I.am.toast. I'm not kidding. I was sitting here around 8:30 and just started yawning. No reading for me tonight, I have got to get a decent nights sleep. Oh, wait, I'm planning an early night, so that means the kidtens will start chasing each other, wrestling, biting my toes under the covers and all sorts of shenanigans that they would only do because I don't want them to. It's a conspiracy. The universe wants to see what will happen if Eve doesn't get any decent sleep for a week. What will happen? You don't even want to know ... honest. Been there, survived that. It was not a pretty sight. So, I'm doing this ridiculously lame blog early so I can climb under, er, into the bed and dream of Hugh Jackman and nekkid cabana boys. And if Darth Vader shows up I just might shove an Ewok up his ...

Just so you won't get terribly bored - whatcha reading?

Dreaming of Hugh Jackman...ahh...now there's a big incentive to take a nap. ;-)

I get to look forward having my sister's cats biting my toes next week. I'll be staying at her place(to help her with her spring cleaning)The cats aren't allowed in the room I always use when I'm there so when I'm there the door gets opened and that's their invitation to come in.
As for what I'm reading, I'm on the last chapter of Expecting Lonergan's Baby by Maureen Child and then The Soldier's Seduction by Anne Marie Winston. Both are April Desires. Then I can start on Undone by Carly Phillips, Donna Kauffman and Candace Schuler.

I dream of a full nights sleep. Hey, wait isn't that an oxymoron? (sp) Just one night when I don't wake up every couple of hours ould be nice..... Hope you finally get some sleep.
As for what I'm reading? I picked up "Blondes Have More Felons" by Allesia Holiday. So far it's good, but I have been having a hard time concentrating long enough to read. (my fault, not the book)

Hope you're able to get some sleep!
What I'm reading now? Something Wicked by Evelyn Vaughn; Her Sexiest Mistake by Jill Shalvis and finishing up A Cradle Will Fall by Maggie Price. I don't know why I can't read a single book at once anymore.

I don't sleep much anymore. I stay up late then up all night because our son keeps waking up. But he is getting easier. I got up once and he went back to sleep, but still had to crawl into bed with him later, but only briefly...

Oooh, hope you had very nice dreams of Hugh last night for many, many hours! I just finished Shadow Touch by Marjorie Liu and will move to Lover Eternal by JR Ward next.

Eve--can you wear earplugs or is that not good with your mom in the house? Do you have alarms on the doors so you know if she goes out? I am a terrible sleeper if there is any noise around and earplugs really work. Now the kids are bigger I use them occassionally when I'm working and pretend I have all my faculties as I smile vacantly at them :)

Books... well it's Allison Brennan's RS books and I picked up David Morrell's book on writing from the library--wonderful BTW. And he was from Kitchener/Waterloo in Ontario (where we lived for 3 years)--I always find these links to places fascinating.

PS. Your loyal readers will never be bored, although you're getting a bit kinky having Hugh in bed while kittens lick your toes ;-)

Bailey Stewart said...

Melissa - yes I helped a bit :)

Christa - Toe biting is very irritating - not only that, but it hurts.

Brandy - yes, I full nights sleep - climbing into bed at around 9 p.m. and sleeping all night until the alarm goes off at 6 the next morning. That would almost be better than Hugh Jackman in Ireland.

Lis - You'll love "Her Sexiest Mistake". I will sometimes have 3 different books going - different genres. If I'm reading a Kay Hooper Bishop series, I'll end with a romantic comedy before going to bed (otherwise, nightmares).

Scott - but you're making progress!

Joely - I wish - more on that later (lets just say it involved cats and the space beneath my bed)

Toni - nope, not with mom. Even though I have a fan going for that "white noise" effect, I still have to be able to hear the doorbell, smoke alarm - stuff like that. Mom doesn't roam yet, but she is prone to just opening the door to whoever rings the bell, and in this neighborhood that's not a good thing.

P.S. You know what I meant gutterbrain.LOL

Trust me - I know where of you speak - I have 4 in the house - sheesh. On spring break they wake almost an hour earlier than they will for school - which means - no sleep for momma!

{blushes} I am reading my book - I can't help it - it looks cool in my MS Reader!

Bailey Stewart said...

Dennie - of course you are sweetie - I would be too if it were me.

Would you believe that the storm troopers were out THIS MORNING!

Okay, I crawled into bed around 10:00 and fell asleep before 11. Pretty good, huh? Yeah, well about 3:O'Stupid O'clock Devlin and Bailey decided that having a skirmish UNDER my bed was the most important thing in their world. NOT! And I couldn't get to them. I don't know if I've mentioned this, but I'm sleeping on the bottom part of my trundle bed (while Bebo has the top), so there is a lot of open space under there. Too much, if you ask me!

naps....I can not remember the last time I got a nap! Oh wait, I think I fell asleep at my laptop the other afternoon :) oops.

Books, well I just finished The Heartbreaker by Carly Philips (yes it is old) and now I am on Jewel of Atlantis by Gena Showalter. I have also started her Celebrity Surgeon by Kate Hardy :)

Bailey Stewart said...

Oh, you'll love Her Celebrity Surgeon! And I have the Showalter on my TBR heap.

Falling asleep at the laptop isn't good - you end up with all sorts of funny indentations on your face.

Oh, I hope you're able to get some sleep, sweetie. *hugs*

I have it! I just went to the store and I saw this stuff - Off for Kids. I knew they made it for all sorts of bugs and insects, but not for this!!! Totally awesome! Do you think it will work?

Bailey Stewart said...

Shhhh, no kids in sight. I'm gonna try and take a nap before work - I have my Off for Kids ready.

Oh,, Eve, I do pray you get some sleep soon. I know what it's like. I was going crazy one day with the radio blaring right beyond my bedroom wall, the hairdresser yelling at the top of his voice, the kid upstairs jumping up and down. My sleep (not-sleep?) pattern is the craziest in the world. I don't mind light, but noise...(screams inside!!!). FMS sufferers have heightened senses: one woman claims she wakes up when her cat pussyfoots downstairs.

I try to use cotton in my ears to dampen sounds a little bit but it doesn't really help.

I think I might have to suggest to the people upstairs that they teach the child not to run or jump in the apartment. I know we were never allowed to do that in the house, probably just to teach us the principle of the thing or because my parents, like almost everybody in Germany, grew up in apartments and had to be mindful of the people in other apartments. Next week will be better again, I hope. This is our kids' March break week too. So we don't have the crossing guard tooting her whistle--which is not really annoying, and let's me tell time a bit without having to look at a clock--but we have the kid upstairs doing gymnastics. I can sleep over the noise of the traffic, because it's more like white noise, but noise in here is too irregular.

What I'm reading: I had to leave "The Crack in the Edge of the World" by Simon Winchester for a while (had to give it back to the library because there was a long list for it), just finished reading Julianne Maclean's "My Own Privat Hero" and am now half way through Jayne Anne Krentz's "All Night Long". There are various other books swimming around somewhere that are also partly read but which I had to abandon for a while to get library books read.

And Dennie, I'd probably read my own book too if I were ever able to write one. That's so cool. And again, congratulations!

Ugh, you can tell I'm still half asleep: too many mistakes.

It should be: "the tooting of the crossing guard LETS me tell time...

I think you might be on to something with Off for Kids. The little creeps better watch out. LOL

I just started A Dream Across Time by Annie Rogers. I've never read anything by the author before and it's a little different then I usually read but it has been good so far.

Toni Anderson said...

I keep thing your avatar is going to flash me :D Hope you got a nap. Water pistols work well on kids (and dogs) but revenge is a b1tch :/

Bailey Stewart said...

I GOT A NAP!! I sprayed the Off for Kids all over me and not one kid showed up LOL Of course, now the bed stinks like bug spray ...

Toni - I reserve the water pistol (bottle) for the cats.

Bailey Stewart said...

Oh, and Toni - someone in bunny slippers wouldn't flash you ;)

Brandy said...

Nope, the question is, would yu want someone who wears bunny slippers to flash you? Kidding, honest! Glad to hear you finally got a good nights sleep! Dh went back to work today after 4 days of time off and maybe now I can get some things done around here!!!!!

Oh, Eve, I can empathize. I'm not sleeping either, but it's because my son brought a virus home from school and now everybody is sick. Not to mention the fact that I've got a sinus headache.

Oh, the joys of motherhood.

Tanya

Bailey Stewart said...

Brandy - you're silly :) I wish I had had a full nights sleep, but the cat fight interrupted it - but hey, a two hour nap today was a start. Of course, this is Thursday night, so you know I'll be up for a while.

Tanya - poor thing. I had a bad sinus headache last week - those are killers. And yikes on the virus. Hope your household gets to feeling better soon.

Well I read the first two of Maggie Shayne's Twilight books- but the third hasn't arrived yet (via ebay)... or else it did arrive and I, in my brilliance, have managed to lose it without noticing. I don't think it's gotten here yet, though- I've been stacking them up as they arrived (I ordered all the ones I was missing so I'd finally have the whole set... argh.) Sniffle. I really wanted to lose myself in a book for a bit tonight. Instead I got on the samned computer to email the seller, and I've been here ever since (hour and a half easily). Need to sleep now. Maybe it will arrive tomorrow while I'm gone. I can hope, right?

Oh, and Eve- buy some oreos or something. Next time the kids get loud, take the cookies outside, tell them that you really need a nap and you appreciate it sooo much if they'd play quietly for a couple hours- and then hand them the oreos. It just might work.
I won over the boys near us last fall- they were out in the street smashing pumpkins with a baseball bat. I pointed out that if they hit them the other way pumpkin guts wouldn't get on the cars, then told them that they could have the three pumpkins off of our porch if they wanted them, too. They're very nice boys. (And I told their momma so one day. She looked shocked when I complimented her on how polite they always were to me.)

Eve, I think James Earl Jones has a sexy voice, so I think I'd have been laying there listening to the voice, sighing.

Bailey Stewart said...

Butterfly - I don't share my oreos with nobody - sort of like Jill's girl scout cookies. And these are little kids mostly - 6 and under - I don't think they have the concept of quiet. But I'll think of something - they're usually not this loud, I don't know why they're home this week - they're not in school so they don't have a Spring Break? And these people are normally good people, but they have a weird concept of ... well it's hard to explain. One time they were having a party and it was getting late (towards midnight) - I was sick and wanted to sleep, so I went next door and asked if they could keep it down a little and she told me that they could do whatever they wanted in their yard and I had no right to tell them to be quiet (I asked politely, didn't tell). I was a little shocked as we were (and still are in some ways) friendly. So I don't know if the kids would cooperate or not. And the older kid doesn't live there - I don't know where he came from.

Danica - I love James Earl Jones' voice too - but he was yelling right outside my window. I was not amused.

I came by yesterday and even added a comment but blogger refused to cooperate. Glad to find it behaving today.

I finished Jill's, "Get A Clue" yesterday and only have about 20 pages to go of Dennie's, "Her Passion". Yes, I'm really enjoying the reunion of Colleen and Joel(Frank). I just know she's going to bump Kent but haven't gotten there yet. :o

Still reading Darkness on the Edge of Town....Hoping to finish up tonight. Since it's so nasy out and I finished the first draft of the 3rd novella, I might give myself the afternoon off and read a bit.........

Bailey Stewart said...

Congratulations on finishing the draft. You deserve a afternoon off - oh oh, BIG clap of thunder. Computer going off.
