Alka Seltzer Moment

I'm stuffed. I am beyond stuffed and have gone into total pigmania. It wasn't the dinner that Bebo and I had - a small ham, mashed potatoes and gravy and a green salad. It was the desserts - cherry cheesecake pie, caramel turtles, chocolate and peanutbutter fudge, etc., etc., etc., ad nauseum. If I move I shall explode.

The day started out difficult - waking up on Christmas morning alone for the first time in my life. No one waiting for me, no "Happy Birthday" song at the breakfast table. Nothing. Then I grabbed my coffee and crackers and ambled back to the study to check my emails. Oh my. The ecards and birthday/Christmas messages. I suddenly didn't feel alone and it was okay, I was going to be get through today and it was because of y'all. Oooh, and presents. A lovely box of candy from Brandy - Thanks Toots! Cat key ring, sticky notes and a lovely bookmark from Kate. Thanks Sweetie. The DVD World Trade Center from me (okay, I bought it and wrapped it up). The fur-babies loved their stockings full of toys. In fact, at one point Aidan was guarding the stocking and not letting any of the other cats near it. Not to mention the books and DVD that arrived on Saturday from Kate, Susan and Olga. You made me feel special. But the gift that's going to drive me the most crazy (hey, no comments from the peanut gallery)? Bebo gave me a 10 puzzle jigsaw collector edition of Thomas Kinkaid paintings. I love Thomas Kinkaid. I hate these puzzles. Open up the box and each puzzle is in un-marked plastic bags. Um, which puzzle is which? What picture do I use as a guide? Which set of candlesticks do I use to slug her with?

So, how was your Christmas? What gift delighted you the most and which one might result in homicide?

Happy Birthday Kelley Vitollo!

Sounds like you had a yummy holiday. As for the puzzles, OMG, I hate puzzles, because I can't leave them alone. There's no getting up and blah, blah, blah, I HAVE to finish them. And so you know what? I got the same EXACT box of puzzles from my BIL. AGHHHHH! The best gift, I got 2 gift cards to 2 different bookstores, *sigh*, I'm soooooo going to the bookstore tomorrow! Hope you had a good birthday!

Oh, oh, how could I have forgotten. My sister got me two gift certificates - one for Christmas, one for birthday - to Borders! Of course, I already have them spent in my mind, with the new Hooper coming out this summer and the new Butcher Dresden book out in April I think?

"Which candlesticks...." LOL!!

Busy minds are creative minds ... she knows you well.

Glad you ate so well...you ate for both of us...you just didn't know it.
Thanks, Bailey! *wink*

I only got 2 gifts ... my new camera, nothing to sneeze at. It won't inspire me to use candlesticks on anyone, BUT depending on the pics I take, could inspire someone to use them on ME! *giggle*
And a yr's worth of a phone card. Which is a large gift too.
I'm happy. Plus he took care of me all weekend long. Bonus.

FYI- I think the fever broke last night. This morning was the first time I've seen my temp under 100 since Saturday. Yea!

Psst, about Dresden. Think him and Murphy will hook up? I hope so. Thomas seemed to hint it was a possibility. ooooooh

I got a gift certificate to B&N and I'm hitting the store today during my lunch hour.

Bailey, is that Kay Hooper? If so, I didn't know she has a new book coming out.

Happy Birthday Kelley!

I got those same puzzles from my mom! The funniest part is she won't let me near them until she has done them all first. My favorite is the gift certificate to Barnes & Noble.com from my sister. I don't have a least favorite because I order everything online for both my mom & sister. ;) Except the puzzles! LOL

I'm so happy your Christmas and birthday ended up being better than you expected. Hugs!

Happy Birthday Kelley.

I haven't had my Christmas yet. We are waiting for my daughter and boyfriend to come in today at any moment and they're going to spend almost a week with us so I may be a little scarce.

I love(d) puzzles but I don't want to put the time into them that I used to lol.

Happy Holidays everyone.

Happy belated birthday! I always get myself a little present, too :) Two gifts here, a television for the second floor (since I'm no longer moblie with a laptop), and a Sonicare, which my whole family swears by. I'm overlooking the fact that they may think my teeth NEED the help...

Hugs!

Sorry for the longer absence; things have been crazy and I've been away.

Just to answer today's question:

The gifts that delighted me the most, other than the trips I received earlier this year, were the clothes my little sister bought me, all in coordinating colors and more fashionable styles--especially the capri pants.

Nothing displeased me. The only little fly in the ointment is that my one brother confused two series by the same actor: one which I loved and one which always left me baffled and definitely frustrated. He got me the DVD set of the latter while it's the former that I really wanted. But maybe if I see all the episodes in order, I'll finally be able to make sense of the series.

And I love puzzles, though like Brandy, I tend to get enslaved by them.

I had a longer comment go "poof" on me. So that's it for now. I do have a newer computer which one of my nephews decided to scrap and my brother tried to fix up for me. Hope it works the way I want and need it to. This one constantly freezes on me as it did when I first got it. We've come full circle together.

I didn't know you were a Christmas baby! Happy Birthday and I hope you had a very Merry Christmas.

I got more than I imagined....the artist we commissioned to do a painting for us finished it and delivered it Friday...that was wonderful, I had no idea it would be done that soon. Martin bought me more than he should and I got some beautiful glass hummingbird feeders that I can't wait for spring to put out. And a very special cardinal bracelet my 3 year old nephew picked out for me!
