Are You Hungry?

It’s recipe time. Jeanne wanted the recipe for my cherry salad, so here it is plus a quick fruit crisp dessert. These two treats can be made all year long.

Cherry Salad (I’ve heard you can do this with Blueberry Pie filling, but I’ve never tried it. Apple Pie filling doesn’t work well)

Ingredients:

1 can pie filling
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 small can crushed pineapple (drained)
1 small tub whipped topping
(some people also add chopped walnuts)

Combine all ingredients and then chill.

Fruit Crisp

Preheat oven at 350 degrees

Ingredients:

Small crisp:
1 can Apple or Cherry Pie filling
Stick butter or margarine
1 small box white cake mix

Large crisp:
2 cans Apple or Cherry Pie filling
Stick butter or margarine
1 regular size box of white cake mix

For a small crisp, use small cake pan; large – large cake pan.

Spread pie filling on bottom of pan.
Sprinkle cake mix over top.
Layer butter/margarine pats across top. (Don’t use too much or the mixture will get mushy)

Bake for 20 minutes, and then start keeping an eye on it. When top gets crisp, then it’s done.

Glenice and I had a great visit. Didn’t do much except gab until bed-time, which wasn’t very late since I had to work an 8 hour shift the next day. We went to IHOP for breakfast and then parted ways. I’ll try to get a pix of the gift sometime this week. I’ve got Christmas decorations to get up today. Y’all have a wonderful Sunday.

Oh thanks so much Bailey! They both sound scrumptious. I can't wait to try the salad first.

I spent the morning buying gifts for 230 kids for our American Legion!

Those recipes sound delish. (back to kitchen for more brownies, I have no willpower)
Glad to hear you and Glenice had a wonderful visit.

Your looking mighty snazzy there. I guess they won't let you put a Santa hat and the helmet on.

I've made this before!

Used cherry pie filling, and called it "Cherry Crunch".
It is absolutely YUMMY.
So good, I put it in one of my manuscripts, lol.

At the moment I really am hungry. However, I think I should have the entree before the dessert. That means that I have to think up something.

These recipes sound delicious. Maybe I'll even use them one day like all the other recipes that are lurking around this place. It's remarkable how many good recipes are out there and yet I never even make one of them. I always just sort of cobble something together. Just now I've got some broccoli that's yellow. I'll probably cook the stems and then combine that with some potatoes that are still to be thawed and toss everything into some of the tomato stuff I've got. Yeah, I know. It sounds brilliant, doesn't it? I've had some rice and spaghetti since I moved out of the house 8 years ago, if I'm not mistaken. Hope they're still edible. No appetite and a horror of cooking are my big problems. Anyone want to cook for me?

My sister was horrified when I asked her how to make Jell-O. I don't blame her. The problem was that I didn't know if I'd need to have a bowl too big for me to handle. But we did have a good laugh. She learned how to cook way before I did--and she's 11 years younger. I think she was actually making stuff before I had to take my infamous cooking classes at school. They're what put me right off cooking ever again.
