That Bear Don't Know Jack

I don't know if anyone has blogged about this (since I haven't been anywhere but Jill's - um, once to Donna), but I thought this story was great. Meretta first mentioned it, then I told Loreth, who sent me a picture ... anyway, this is the story of Jack, a clawless orange tabby in New Jersey. Did you know that there are a lot of bears in New Jersey? I didn't. Anyway, when the neighbors first spotted the bear up the tree, they thought that Jack was just looking up at it (see little orange spot at base of tree). The bear was up there for approximately 15 minutes. Then the bear descended and Jack chased it up another tree. It would probably still be there if the owner hadn't called the cat in. They knew that Jack was very territorial, but not to this extreme.

Happy Birthday Melissa I hope you have a great day.

Okay. Honest Eve. I'm not stalking the number one spot. REALLY. Just keeping odd hours these days that happen to coincide with you waaaay down south.

Great picture of the cat from NJ! And that's an eensy bear compared to the one's in Loreth's woods. Why he's not even as big as my thumbnail! ;D

Thanks again for the copy of CLOSER!!

LOL I tried to beat Meretta but she cheated and posted YESTERDAY! HAHA

There's been a video going around of that cat but I have dial up and haven't seen it. I wonder what the cat would have done if the bear hadn't run away lol.

Have you heard about the cat Up North who was placed on House Arrest because it attacked a lady who came to the cats owners door? Hahaaha!
Your story is too funny. A cat so territorial it chases BEARS!!

Agh! I forgot to wish Melissa a Happy Birthday!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY Melissa!!!

Meretta - it's because Brandy has to share the computer with her DH - once that's settled, she'll be back to beating everyone here. And once the hockey stuff is over, you'll settle down to your usual sleep time. As far as the bear's size - he's still bigger than that eensy teensy cat.

Jeanne - um, technically, since this is on my time, you posted yesterday too. LOL
I'd love to see that video.

Brandy - shhhh, don't want my cats to know they're on house arrest. They just think they're house cats.

Loreth - I wasn't aware that there was a contest to see who was the first to my blog. If I didn't know better, I'd be flattered. LOL Too bad Bubba screams like a girl when he "fights" - although that alone might frighten a bear. And I saw the headline about the other story, but I didn't read it. I'll have to check it out.

Lis - sure is.

Raine - LMAO too.

Well chickies - do you see what time it is? Aren't you wondering why I'm not in bed? Couldn't sleep - AGAIN. So I'm off to give it another try. Talk to y'all in the morning.

That is one of the sweetest, cutest little stories I have heard in a long time and I love the picture!

I will be emailing that to my friends today.

That is the coolest picture ever. Cats can be so saucy! My step-brothers used to put a cat midway up the stairs and dog in the basement, then call the dog. The cat would scare the dog so bad that it wouldn't come up, but it was shaking with excitement to do so. They flashed food at him and every other temptation they could find. Mean, huh?

Oh my god! Hahahaha...that is too funny.

Deana - I hope they enjoy it too.

Stacy - the picture that my newspaper had was a closer picture of the cat, but not so much the bear. Even though you can't see Jack very well, the viewpoint of this photo makes a much better perspective. (How's that on 2 hours sleep?)

City Chickie - giggle back.

Carol - me too.

Scott - that's better than what my uncles used to do ...

Kelly - hope so, because I aim to entertain.

Well folks, not back today either - but I'm making progress. See y'all around lunchtime.

Happy Birthday Melissa!

I saw this on the news here since NJ isn't to far away. Extremely funny! :)

Where I live, much like with Jill, bears are nothing new. Now if I could just get one my cats to chase them away I’d be thrilled!

My goodness girl I hope you get some sleep!

I saw a story on the news the other night about all the black bears that have been showing up in suburban and even urban areas lately. All over the country!

I heard the story, too. What a great pic.

Happy birthday, Melissa!

Love that picture! I, too, have a wild orange cat who's afraid of nothing in his path - we have no bears on the Prairies so I don't know about them. My ds loves to make our dog chase our mentally challenged black cat whenever he can get away with it. The orange cat and the dog get along beautifully - orange cat and dog will groom each other, dh calls it "pathetic"....:) Happy Birthday too, Melissa, even if I don't really know you! Everyone should have a great day on their Birthday!

After sending B'day wishes to Melissa, I wanted to check the date for this blog entry before mentioning that it's my birthday too.

See, Eve remembers her blogger friends but forgets us that live near by. I see how important I am. And I even helped paint that study of yours... *teasing*

That would be my dog up the tree--dumb animal!!

Oh susie - oh Sh*t. I've had a terrible sleep wise week. I told you I would forget. I looked right at you and said "You know I'm going to forget that, don't you?"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I love you - you've been a wonderful, dear and supportive friend. (okay - now I'm going to go slink off and get ready for work).

Hey! Happy Birthday Susie!! Dh has been pretty good about not taking my computer, too much. His is on it's 5th? trip tp be repaired. I've lost track.
By the way Eve, I've decided it IS a conspiracy to keep me away from the UBS.
Hope you finally got some rest!! Oh, shoot, never mind, it's thursday.

It's true. You did warn me you would forget. I forgive you, but I just had to give you a hard time. What kind of friend would I be if I didn't give you a hard time?! Don't answer that. Lots of love back at ya.

What a brilliant picture. Thank God someone had a camera.

All those Jersey bears moved out of Pennsylvania when they heard shore property was going cheap. When it didn't pan out for them, they couldn't afford the toll back over the bridges. (They charge you to leave New Jersey, but not to enter it.)

This is terrific!!! Oh my. Thank you for the laugh. I can picture old Jack now. *ggg*
