True or False

(I'm trying to get a cold ( head fuzzy, nose stopped up, throat scatchy) so here's something to amuse/amaze you while I'm off taking steam showers, airborne and chicken soup. Can you guess which ones are true or which ones are false?

1. Apples, not caffeine, are more efficient at waking you up in the morning.
2. Alfred Hitchcock did not have a bellybutton.
3. A pack-a-day smoker will lose approximately 2 teeth every 10 yrs.
4. People do not get sick from cold weather; it's from being indoors a lot more.
5. When you sneeze, all bodily functions stop, even your heart!
6. Only 7 per cent of the population are lefties.
7. 40 people are sent to the hospital for dog bites every minute.
8. Babies are born without knee caps. They don't appear until they are 2-6 years old.
9. The average person over fifty will have spent 5 years waiting in lines.
10. The toothbrush was invented in 1498.
11. The average housefly lives for one month.
12. 40,000 Americans are injured by toilets each year.
13. A coat hanger is 44 inches long when straightened.
14. The average computer user blinks 7 times a minute.
15. Your feet are bigger in the afternoon than the rest of the day.
16. Most of us have eaten a spider in our sleep.
17. The REAL reason an ostrich sticks its head in the sand is to search for water.
18. The only 2 animals that can see behind themselves without turning their heads are the Rabbit and the Parrot.
19. John Travolta turned down the starring roles in "An Officer and a Gentleman" and "Tootsie".
20. Michael Jackson owns the rights to the South Carolina State anthem.
21. In most television commercials advertising milk, a mixture of white paint and a little thinner is used instead of real milk.
22. Prince Charles and Prince William NEVER travel on the same airplane, just in case there is a crash.
23. The first Harley Davidson motorcycle built in 1903 used a tomato can for a carburetor.
24. Most hospitals make money by selling the umbilical cords cut from women who give birth. They are reused in vein transplant surgery.
25. Humphrey Bogart was related to Princess Diana. They were 7th cousins.
26. If coloring weren't added to Coca-Cola, it would be Green.

Answers: All of the above are true. Don't you just love number sixteen? And I don't think a cup of apple with vanilla/caramel creamer would really do the job for me - I mean, could an apple really wash down that spider?

Judging by your post of "I'm trying to get a cold" I think the cold was already won out! Hope you are feeling better soon. Sending Hugs.

What in the world are the 40,000 Americans doing to be injured by toilets?

Don't tell Jill about #16! LOL

I think you're right. *sniff*

And why have those 50 year olds been standing in line for 5 years? I would have moved by now.

Jill + spider = SCREAM

I think I was struggling with that cold last week too. I also had the tightness in the chest. I ate a lot of chicken soup, tea with honey, Neo Citron, kept myself rapped in a blanket and pretty much stayed in my comfy flannel pj's all day.

That's the plan Stan - off to do some "must" errands (like grocery store) and then back here to bed. Maybe I'll get some reading done?

I knew SOME of them were true as I read through them, but I'm amazed all of them are. LOL! I'm wondering about those toilets too. Like, "huh?!?"

P.S> Hope you're feeling okay, Bailey. Nurse that cold!

I didn't know the Princes Charles & William thing was true. I think I've read something somewhere about an apple being better at waking you up than coffee but I'm not sure I could face one first thing.

Hope you feel better soon. Colds are nasty.

That spider thing totally creeps me out!!!

And how could Hitchcock NOT have a belly button?!

Christa said...

I think it has a lot to do with men leaving the toilet seat up.

THey also use coke to clean the inside of the coke tankers...that doesn't sound right but still EWWWWWW can you immagine what it does to our stomachs?

Some of these I'd rather have been oblivious to the rest of my life (like #16!!!)

Okay - I've got the airborne, zircam, orange juice and the chicken is thawing for the soup. I will not get sick, I will not get sick - I return to work next week. Speaking of that, I'd better call and find out what my hours will be.

Gonna sleep for the rest of the day. Y'all have a good one.

Oh, and Cece/Amie - you can also use coke to clean toilets and car batteries - my stomach must be pretty clean.

I hope you feel better soon! I hate it when I have a cold.

I knew all those things were true. Amazing isn't it!

Hope you feel better soon Bailey. PS. The outdoor/indoor cold thing was disproved slightly last year. If people get cold then they can be at increased risk of developing a cold/flu whatever. All to do with stressors on the body, using up energy that would have gone into the immune system. Always seemed pretty obvious to me (know it all).

Wrap up warm.

I didn't know about the baby and kneecap thing! Well honestly, I didn't know a lot of them, but since I know a new baby, I'm checking it out!

Erm, how does one check, I wonder?
