Day Off

I took Sunday off from posting and will probably do so the next couple of weeks. And then, dear folks, Sunday will be NFL day (waving at Scott), actually Dallas Cowboys day. So, if you absolutely hate the NFL or the Cowboys, don't bother to show up on that day. To my utter shame Scott, who doesn't even live in Dallas, is much more knowledgeable about the Cowboys now than I am - I just haven't had the time to read the sports section or keep up with the news. So I rely on him to keep me straight.

We spent Sunday morning getting the dresser moved out of mom's room and the chair moved around - there's more space now and a place for everything. Next we're going to hang family pictures, at her request.

I'm looking for someone (I'm calling a cousin tomorrow) to sit with mom one morning this week so that I can get to the post office and the store - so your books will be out this week, or at least half of them. One of the other reasons I'm giving everyone the book they asked for - that was the final Friday giveaway and I'm trying to get rid of backstock. I just can't get to the post office as often. Now, I will continue to have special giveaways for my authors - I want to continue that, if you win you'll have to be patient with the delivery.

Anyway, boring post today, just a bit of info. Hope y'all have a good one.

Glad your day went well and you got your mom's room organized. That can always take awhile.

I'm not good with NFL but the cowboys were always my fave team :o)

Well then Sunday's in September this will be the place to be.

Sounds like you got some stuff done. More than I did. :-(

Dear oh dear -I'm a Pittsburgh Steeler fan so does that mean I should take sundays off roflmao.

I'd say don't rush the two cats and pay some extra attention to Charlie. The rest is going to be up to them I'm afraid. Once the kitten grows up some it's possible they will become buddies (or at least avoid each other).

Tanya - that's the most I've done in a few days.

Jeanne - boo, hiss. You can come by, just no snarky remarks. LOL

And in case anyone is a bit confused - Jeanne just answered Siobhan from Saturday's post. *g*

Good job on getting everything organized. Um, not a big sports fan, but sat and watched a Nascar race with Son today. His favorite driver won!
I'm glad the chair its and that your Mom wants pictures hung up. Maybe they'll be a comfort to her.

I think I told you that the only NFL team I'm really interested in is Dallas because of some connections to the team in former years. Otherwise, my team is the CFL Winnipeg Blue Bombers and have been since the late 50's.

However, since I have no working TV, I can't watch any football at all.

Tomorrow is a Civic Holiday. Stores are open until 1700 but no offices etc. So I'm having company from east of Toronto. It's after 0300 so I'm toddling off to bed. Still have lots to do tomorrow morning: dishes, shower, get rest of today's laundry put away, etc.

I'm hoping for a little bit of help from my "adopted" brother in putting some things on the wall. I guess even computer guys might know how to do that. They have a daughter, named for my mother and two boys: Isaac is very quiet and David is a real live wire. Margo's in Grade 8, Isaac in 6 and David in 4.

Where did you grow up, Loreth? My nephews in rural ON played rugby at their schools. The schools aren't large enough to have enough players for our type of football. Here in London, they all play Cdn type football with a rugby ball. I can remember once seeing an Australian team playing rugby and to me it was the funniest thing ever to see them all in a huddle moving around like a 20-legged crab. Believe me, I didn't get it at all. I guess I should get one of my nephews to teach me. The oldest is living in Brockville, ON and apparently he's found some guys to play rugby with, even in winter. All three nephews had the opportunity to go to Wales and/or England. As Stewarts, they'd probably have preferred Scotland; their father still fondly remembers his visit there with his grandfather. But I don't think any of them have made it. I was there for about 5 days on a GB tour which didn not include Wales. So there you go.

I know nothing about NFL so I'll have to come along and learn.
I always take Sundays off...

Now that we have a week of practices under our belts, the reports are falling like rain. I can't believe we are already at the start of another season.

It sounds like still have offensive line problems, but one hell of a ferocious defense, as in a linebacker corp three deep at every position, and corners that are sticking the receivers. We might just sneak by with that.

See? What did I tell you - Scott will keep me straight - although I did read the sports page this morning.

Devon - I haven't really gotten into hockey, in fact I've watched very few games so I consider myself lucky to have even been watching the night the Stars won the Stanley Cup. When the Stars came to Dallas it was the first time we'd had a professional hockey team so I didn't grow up with it (I was an adult then - what, the 80s?). The Patriots aren't a bad team - at least they're not the Steelers *gg*

My problem with sitters is twofold. First, I'm the youngest of my generation in the area (I'll be 46 this December), so the rest are grandparents and gr-grandparents (in fact, the one I'm going to call is a gr-grandmother whose younger sister was the flower girl at my parent's wedding in 1948) - I don't think any of them were born after 1950. So a lot of them have medical problems of their own plus mother would be more comfortable with a woman to change her Depends, etc. and that only leaves the gr-grandmother. Secondly, the ones I could get would only be on the weekends and one of the stores I have to go to is only open during the week and I really need to get there this week - it's the place for the hospital bed. I could call and order it but I need to see what else is available like a hospital-like bed tray, bars that attach to a toilet to make it more handicap friendly, etc. Yikes!

Another Steeler fan here! lol

Leave it to Jeanne to confuse everyone! roflmao (She knows I'm kidding)

Rene said...

Umm, I love football but I'm a 49er's fan so, well, you can imagine how much I LOVE the Cowpies, I mean, the Cowboys. Do you have any players in jail this season?

Bailey Stewart said...

Carol - *sigh* And yes, she confused me there for a moment. *gg*

Rene - not yet, just give them time. We have TO now you know. And to make this worse - I'm also a Raider fan (49ers, huh?) LOL

I'm a Pittsburgh Steeler and Denver Bronco fan. I'll still come on Sunday unless you ban me!

It sounds like you had a very productive Sunday. I'm patiently waiting to see the pics of the finished room.

Susan - Did I say anything about the study? Um, it's still a bit of a mess, but, hmmmm, guess I'll have to get working on it. Just requires a lot of noisy work now - and mom is sleeping most of the time. When she is awake she wants me to come and sit in there with her.

Yes, you can come by - I'm still thinking about Rene. LOL

My hubby is a huge NFL fan. He loves the RAiders and his cousin loves the Cowboys. They always tease each other about who is better.

Bailey Stewart said...

Well Kelley, the Raiders did win the Hall of Fame game, that's good. I just worry about their offense - so right now, I'd have to say his cousin is correct. But give me those Marcus Allen, Jim Plunkett, Howie Long Raiders and I would be in heaven.

Melissa Amateis said...

NFL? Sigh...yeah, I don't watch NFL. Hubby is a HUGE Raiders fan, though.

When we watch football, it's Nebraska Cornhusker football - college ball at its best! (except the last few years haven't been so hot...)

GO RAIDERS!! GO COWBOYS!! Rah, RAH, RAHHH!!

I'm trying out for the cheerleeding squad. Think they have room for a "hippy" (and I mean that literally, ;) mom of three? I could pull in the geriatric crowd, maybe?

Glad I'm not the only one waiting for the NFL :) Go Pathers!

Christa said...

I'm not a big football fan so Sunday will be my day of rest too.

I have a bath seat and a hand held shower whach are great for when I take a shower.

Anonymous said...

Boooo Cowboys, go Redskins!

Sorry Hun!

Bailey Stewart said...

Melissa - I just can't get into college football - I've tried.

Stacy - I've seen your husbands collection. I like Tampa because their coach Jon Gruden was once the Raider coach - I liked him.

Meretta - you can be our cheerleader any day.

Marty - the Panthers are good.

Christa - mom has a bench for the shower and then just the regular shower wand, but we're having a hard time getting her to take a shower. Guess we'll have to start with the sponge baths.

Deana - do I know you?

Kelly (Lynn) Parra said...

I know about getting to the post office. It takes me forever to mail something! =D

Jordan Summers said...

Sounds like you're getting everything together. Hopefully you won't have a problem getting someone to come in and sit with your mom. It's important to get out in that big, blue room on occasion. :)
