Damned Carnival
by J. Scott Ellis
I don't believe in fairytales, God, or the Devil. However, I do believe in balance and the perpetual struggle of opposites. Fables are keys to the soul. Truth is detritus on the ocean floor, suppressed by the crushing weight of water. There are things down there--awful things--whose wake stirs up whirlpools of sediment that rise up to the surface, only to dissipate and rest comfortably again.

Excellent, excellent writing, Scott. Very evocative imagery. Congratulations!
Whoa! Great news Scott.
Wow, very imaginative and powerful. You're quite a word-smith. Very well done and eerie.
Congratulations Scott. I can imagine that it took you quite a while to get it this concise. Every word is truly meaningful.
Whoa, I say Whoa! Thank you thank you thank you!
Thanks for letting everyone know about this Bailey. It means a lot to me. And I appreciate the congrats from everyone too.
And yes, it did take some time, and some great editing by my wife, who cut ruthlessly to help make this just so. It's nice, no gratifying that anyone would recognize how much work went into it. I guess it takes a writer to know one!
And did you notice that I picked out the perfect avatar in your honor? *gg*
Now that is sweet! How could I have missed that?
Um, too excited to see straight? LOL
It's a great story Scott, you should be proud of yourself.
In other news - T.O. who?
Great writing!
Wow! It felt like an episode of "The Twilight Zone". Well done Scott! Congrats on the publication.
Terrific writing. :)
TO who went to practice yesterday! Finally. Man, I am really looking forward to the season. We've got something; I can just feel it.
Jill - Thank you.
Susie - Twilight Zone?! Thanks, very nice indeed.
Jordon - Love it, love it. Heap it on. Thanks everyone for taking the time to read my piece.
Yeah, but I'm going to miss tomorrow night's game because of a little thing called work. Sheesh, can't he just pay me to stay home and watch the game?
Congrats Scott!
Thanks Dennie!
I'll get to watch it Friday when I come home. The NFL Network repeats some games and plays them later. Friday at one TiVo is set to record it. Of course I'll already know the stats of the offense and defense, Vanderjact's hit and miss ratio, how TO did, Bledsoe, Romo, the new guys Hurd and Rector, how McQuistan held up in Flozell's place. Still, I can't wait.
Parcels has been complaining that none of the preseason competition has tested his defense. Imagine! Today should be different.
